Colors can make us feel happy or sad, and they can make us feel hungry or relaxed. These reactions are rooted in psychological effects, biological conditioning and cultural imprinting. That’s why it’s important to understand the psychological effects colors might have on an average person as well as the fundamentals of color theory and the meanings of colors. In this article we explain how colors make you feel and what impact colors can have on our emotions. Colors and emotions The way different colors can affect emotions depends largely on a color’s brightness, shade, tint or tone and whether it’s cool or warm toned. Let’s take a look at some of the effects colors can have on how you feel: Warm colors Red, orange and yellow are next to each other on the wheel and are all warm colors. Warm colors often evoke feelings of happiness, optimism and energy. However, yellow, red and orange can also have an attention grabbing effect and signal danger or make you take action (think stop signs, hazard warnings and barrier tape). Red can also increase a person’s appetite. Cool colors Cool colors include green, blue, and purple. Cool colors are usually calming and soothing but can also express sadness. Purple is often used to help spark creativity as it’s a mixture of blue (calm) and red (intense). If a company wants to display health, beauty or security, incorporate these colors. Warm colors. Pastel colors like peach, light pink or lilac can also have an uplifting effect on your mood. The brighter and lighter a color, the more happy and optimistic it will make you feel. Another way colors can create happy emotions is by combining multiple primary and secondary colors together for a youthful, colorful effect. Sad colors Sad colors are colors that are dark and muted. Black and grey are the quintessential sad colors, but dark and muted cool colors like blue, green or neutrals like brown or beige can have a similar effect on feelings and emotions depending on how they’re used. In Western cultures black is considered the color of mourning, whereas in some East Asian countries it’s white to emphasize purity and rebirth. Calming colors Cool colors like blue and green can make you feel calm. Pastel colors and particularly cool toned pastels like baby blue, lilac and mint have a calming and relaxing effect. Neutrals like white, beige and grey can also make you feel calm. The fewer colors you combine and the more simple and pared back a design is, the more calming it will feel. Energizing colors Strong, bright colors and neon colors can have a powerful effect on emotions. Colors like bright red, bright yellow and neon green can feel energizing and make you feel more alert, but can also be irritating on the eyes. These colors will grab your attention and stand out from their surroundings. Highly pigmented, strong colors like royal blue, turquoise, magenta and emerald green can also have a stimulating effect and make you feel refreshed and energized. check this amazing collection of colorful jewelry and inspire your Colorful style SHOP NOW Happy colors. Romantic Gardens Making your Best Moments of life
Who’s with me on converting ordinary backyard into a romantic garden of your dreams? In this post I’m sharing my favorite backyard garden design and ideas that are just too beautiful to pass on. A mindset change before the spring April is just around the corner, I’ve started watching garden shows again. It’s kinda a funny story: As a gardening enthusiast, I find myself less passionate about garden during the winter months. I was no longer interested in watching my favorite gardening shows and youtube channels, nor interested in planning for next spring. It scared me! I was so afraid that I was over gardening and have lost this amazing hobby I had so much fun with. Interesting, immediately as the weather warms up, I turned right into a crazy gardener mode. Walking around local nurseries, watching British garden shows, taking care of my plants – I cannot believe I came back to life again. Dreamy garden space I cannot get enough of While anxiously waiting for the seeds to sprout, flower to bloom, here’s some beautiful gardens I cannot soak myself in enough every day. I hope they will make you excited about spring as well Looking to add a little romance to your garden? We’ve enlisted the help of Charlotte Rowe, award winning garden designer, and asked her to share her top tips on how to transform your garden into not only a place to enjoy with the whole family, but with your partner too. Here are some Ideas that will inspire you ! “Think about the best use of your space and engaging the senses,” says Charlotte. “We can break up our gardens into zones and create ‘rooms’ to add interest. Private zones, screened by evergreen hedging, shrubs and trees, or a willow tunnel, can be very romantic.” 1. Arches and secret hideaways Walking through an archway is like walking into a new, hidden world. You can make your garden your own little getaway by adding a beautiful archway at the entrance of different sections. These archways can be a subtle as a hanging willow or as bold as a physical gate. “Create secluded nooks and crannies, away from the kids’ play area and away from view of the neighbours,” suggests Charlotte. A little bench or a full set of table and chairs can add a lot to your garden and make it more welcoming. Not only is this fun for the kids but very relaxing for adults as well. “Install lovely outdoor sofas and ottomans or a built-in bench and surround yourself with beds of aromatic herbs or a lush mix of tactile grasses and perennials,” says Charlotte. “Some may prefer a seat under a traditional pergola or arbour with beautifully scented climbing roses.” 3. Lights The right lighting can make a space instantly more romantic. Fairy lights are a very worthwhile addition as you can wrap them around vines, trees or between poles. Read our favourite suggestions on how to use fairy lights in your garden here. Candles are also romantic but can be quite tedious on a breezy day. Try candles in tall, glass covers. 4. Water A water feature can add both romance, texture and height to your garden. “The sight and sound of trickling water lend an air of serenity and calm,” says Charlotte. This doesn’t have to be an elaborate fountain – tilting rain sticks can have the same effect. 5. Outdoor spa For the more adventurous landscapers, an outdoor spa is both relaxing and romantic. A comfortable lounge chair next to a water feature, a reading corner with hanging chimes, or even an outdoor bath can ensue the ultimate relaxation. GETTY IMAGES 6. Statues Placing a statue in the garden that encaptures the feeling you desire for that area can up the romance. They also add texture and a storyline to your outdoor space. 7. Outdoor living Creating an outdoor living space allows you to immerse yourself in your garden. You can create a lovely al fresco living room by putting up a canopy and creating a curtain out of hanging vines. If you have limited garden space, you can optimise your porch for outdoor living instead. For the sky-gazers and tree-lovers, hammocks are ideal for feeling the elements all around you. Choosing your favourite colours and fragrances when planting your borders can make sure you feel instantly calm. Some of our favourite romantic flowers are peonies, camellia, roses, foxgloves and bell snowdrops. Check this .
